It’s another young’un’ in charge of Reading’s match this weekend as Chris Kavanagh is the man in the middle for Leeds United’s trip to the Madjeski Stadium.
The 29 year old (that makes him the same age as or younger than six Royals players*) is in only his second full season as a Football League official, and has never officiated a Reading game previously. He has though been in charge of two Leeds games, with the Yorkshire club winning one and losing one out of those.
In 2014-15, Kavanagh reffed 29 games (seven in the Championship) and handed out three red cards – including two in the space of as many minutes as Coventry visited Doncaster in December. On top of this, he showed 86 yellow cards and gave two penalties.
The Manchester official’s only game so far this campaign was the meeting between Preston North End and Middlesbrough last Sunday, which finished 0-0 and produced three yellow cards. Exciting times.
*Anyone who can name all six gets a free can of Carabao and some Euro Cake!
