Brentford 1-3 Reading: Instant Reaction

The Royals may not be scoring at the Mad Stad, but at least the goals are going in away from home. Strikes from Sa and Blackman sealed an important 3-1 win at Brentford.

Reading: Bond, Obita, Ferdinand, McShane, Gunter, Robson-Kanu (McCleary 46), Quinn, Norwood (Hector 90+6), Williams, Blackman, Sa (Tshibola 82)

Just one change from the Royals side which drew 0-0 with MK Dons last weekend, with Nick Blackman coming in up to to replace Aaron Tshibola. And it was soon joy for the travelling Reading fans as Orlando Sa nodded home his first goal for Reading after eighteen minutes. Nick Blackman doubled the lead to continue his scoring streak, with an excellent free-kick from 25 yards that left David Button with no chance in the Brentford goal.

It was all looking good heading into the second half but another summer signing, this time for Brentford, opened his account. Lasse Vibe, once rumoured to be on Reading's radar, hammered a shot into Jonathan Bond's net via the post. And despite an inevitably nervous last twenty minutes, the Royals managed to add to their lead in injury time, as Blackman won and converted a penalty to seal the match once and for all. Full time: 3-1 to the Royals.
