Get Reading & Tilehurst End Podcast Extra's own Charles Watts is hard at work keeping across the latest deals on deadline day. Two names that he's linked Reading with are Bournemouth's Tokelo Rantie and Benfica's Ola John.
Of the two, it's John that Charles is the more confident over with speculation rife that the Dutchman will arrive at the Madejski at some stage today. John is just 23 years old and has been capped at U21 and senior level by his country. The midfielder joined Benfica for a fee of around £10 million just three years ago but has struggled to hold down a regular spot for the club. In 2014 he made eight appearances for Hamburg on loan but again failed to really nail down a regular spot and left after making just eight appearances.
He's not really much of a goalscorer, wth just 12 goals in 107 league games but did net the winner for Benfica in last season's league cup final.
The other big name that Watts mentions is that of Bournemouth forward Tokelo Rantie. Rantie is a year older than John at 24 and has spent the past two and a bit years on the South Coast after signing from Malmo for a reported club record £2.5m.
Sadly the goals haven't really flowed for Rantie since, with just five goals in 41 Championship appearances seeing him slip behind the likes of Callum Wilson in the Cherries' pecking order. His career stats don't suggest a prolific goal scorer but he's notched 9 in 31 at international level so does seemingly know where the goal is.
