Reading Football Club are chasing Grays Athletic midfielder Nathan Ferguson, even though the winter transfer window doesn't open for another two-and-a-bit months.
The 19-year-old midfielder has, according to the ever-reputable Daily Mail, earned "rave reviews" this season. Described as a "dynamic box-to-box midfielder", there's not much else to this story because he plays in the Isthmian Premier League and there's very little information out there.
The "report" (using that term very lightly) says there are a bunch of Football League clubs interested, but only the men in the blue and white hoops are name-checked.
Never mind the fact it's the Daily Fail, I can't see this deal happening. Reading have strong options in central midfield with Danny Williams, Oliver Norwood, Alex Fernandez and the increasingly impressive Aaron Tshibola already on the books and the highly-rated Aaron Kuhl on loan at Dundee United for the season.
Plus, if The Royals really are planning on pushing for promotion this season, what good would it do to bring a 20-year-old non-league midfielder to the club when you're only going to strengthen with proven quality?
Watch him sign and go on to be better than Sidwell now…
