New Contract For Reading FC Midfielder

Aaron Tshibola has been rewarded for his breakthrough into the first team with a new contract that will keep him at the Mad Stad until 2019.

Tshibola gets his new three-and-a-half-year deal on the back of an impressive start to the season that's seen the midfielder involved in all seven of our games this season including three starts.

The 20-year-old has long been thought of as one of our best prospects and showed his ability to tough it out at senior level when he helped Hartlepool pull off a great escape from the League Two relegation zone last season.

Reporting back to the club this summer, Tsh took advantage of Injuries to the likes of Garath McCleary and Tariqe Fosu to get himself right in the mix for a regular starting berth and has not looked out of place when called upon.

However in the short-term the return from injury of the above plus signings like Lucas Piazon and Alex Fernandez might just mean Tshibola leaves again on loan to get regular first team football but Steve Clarke still sees him as an important part of his squad. The Reading manager told the club's website...

"Aaron is another Reading Academy player with a big future ahead of him. When he joined us for pre-season training I could see immediately that last season's loan spell at Hartlepool United had helped Aaron to advance his game to the next level.

"He will be an integral part of my plans for this season and fully deserves his new contract. However, as with any young player, it is important that he continues to learn and improve his game so that his progress continues."

Whether it's here at Reading or out on loan, I'm sure Tshibola will only get better and it's great to have him commit his future to the club for the next few years at least.

If you want to learn a bit more about the midfielder, here's an interview we carried from the midfielder a couple of years ago.

Congratulations again to Aaron and here's to a long and successful career at the club.
