Brian McDermott made one change from the FA Cup 2-2 draw at Huddersfield at the weekend, bringing in Lucas Piazon into the starting line-up in place of Stephen Quinn. Ola John returned to the subs bench after a hamstring injury, whilst Oliver Norwood once again captained the Royals.
Derby County: Grant, Christie, Keogh, Shackell, Warnock, Butterfield, Johnson (Hendrick - 65'), Blackman, Ince, Russell (Camara - 76'), Martin (c)
Reading FC: Al-Habsi. Gunter, Cooper, Ferdinand, Taylor, Williams, Norwood (c), Piazon, McCleary, Robson-Kanu, Vydra
Jason Shackell gave Derby the lead early on after stabbing home a corner unmarked. Just before half-time, impressive build-up play from Reading was rewarded as Danny Williams' header found the corner of net to equalise. Despite plenty of chances, the visitors couldn't find a winner, but a promising performance nonetheless from Brian McDermott's men against a side fighting for automatic promotion.
