Brian McDermott will soon see his third signing of his second spell at Reading come through the doors: that's according to Sportowe Fakty. The Polish site claims that Deniss Rakels, who's been linked with a switch to Berkshire for some time now, is on the verge of finally becoming a Royal. This comes after recent news that Club Brugge were rivals for the Latvian's signature, but it appears that Rakels has his heart set on Berkshire.
As for the deal itself, it seems that Reading will pay Cracovia just over $500,000 for the forward - although his release clause stands at half a million. In British Sterling, that equates to roughly £380,000. Should Rakels be a hit at the Madejski Stadium, that would surely be a bargain price.
Judging by his scoring record, Reading look like they've found a real gem. So far this season, Rakels has netted 15 times in 20 appearances, making him the second top-scorer in the Polish Ekstraklasa. As it happens, the current top-scorer in that league is Nemanja Nikolic, who Reading were linked with back in the summer. What's more, it was Nikolic that was brought in by Legia Warsaw to replace their previous striker... Orlando Sa.
