Another high-scoring cup win at the Mad Stad for the Royals, and Brian McDermott was naturally delighted.

A great 4-0 win against League One side Walsall yesterday afternoon sees us in the draw for the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Goals from Matej Vydra, Hal Robson-Kanu and Danny Williams made manager Brian McDermott a very happy man. He told the official club website after the game, "Walsall are a good team. I've seen them a lot, I know what they're about, they play some really good football and I hope they get promotion this season. But we did our homework on them.

"The most important thing in a cup tie is to get through. We've done our job today, so all in all it's a good day."

"It was a bit scrappy to start with and the first goal was going to be important. It was a little bit disjointed up to that stage, but Hal got us in front with a great finish. I was delighted for Danny and Vyds scored a couple of goals again - I told Vyds at half-time I thought he was going to get a hat-trick today... and he did, if you count the one he tapped in off Danny's foot from an offside position!

"Vyds was upset he'd taken that one off Danny, because it was going in. And he was devastated because he's such a team player, such a great lad.

"But we showed some real quality late in the game to finish the tie off. Chris Gunter's cross at the end there was a fantastic cross for Vyds' header. So I'm really pleased for the lads and the fans.

"At times today some of our football was very good, especially leading up to the goals. And we're delighted to get through a tricky game. The most important thing in a cup tie is to get through. We've done our job today, so all in all it's a good day."

The FA Cup draw takes place at around 6:15pm, after MK Dons' match against Chelsea. The Royals will be ball number 5 and McDermott is delighted our name will be in the hat again. He added: "I'm a manager who loves the FA Cup. We've had really good runs at Reading in recent years and last year we got to the semi-finals - a fantastic run. And we're in the next round.

"We're in the draw and we'll look forward to that - it's always very exciting for everyone, including me, waiting to see who we get. Who we get is nothing to do with me, whoever comes out, comes out. If the Arsenal come out, I'd be happy with that. It would be nice to get someone here at home, but whoever it is, it is."

Next up in the league is Ipswich at Portman Road on Tuesday evening.
