Everybody likes playing on a Thursday night, right? Well, it's worth it when QPR come to town, surely? Oh. Well, that's the reality as Sky get their hands on our Saturday 3pm kick-off with the Fake Hoops and pull it two days forward for an 8pm slot on January 12.
The fixture marks a staggering seventh TV match-up with the West London pretenders in our last nine meetings, a run that includes six consecutive live broadcasts between February 2011 and December 2015. The fans really are getting what they want.
Needless to say, it's the only game Sky can be bothered to lug those heavy cameras down the M4 in the latest round of TV announcements, during which QPR get three games (they are 14th, to be fair), while Leeds, Newcastle, Villa, and Brighton all get two.
In any case, it'll be the second Reading game going out live this season after the equally-immutable Ipswich home game. Maybe Sky are just trying to find something reliable and boring for us in a world of growing uncertainty and instability?
