Reading Under 18s fell to a 4-0 defeat to Manchester City Under 18s in the third round of the FA Youth Cup last night.

571 fans were in attendance at the Madejski Stadium to see the youngsters perform, but unfortunately last season's runners-up were just too good for David Dodds' side. First half goals from Brahim Diaz and Philip Foden had the visitors 2-0 up by the break, before a brace from Lukas Nmecha meant the game was effectively over by the hour mark.

The Royals' U18s had reached the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup last season and the semi-finals the season before, but their campaign was brought to a premature end this time around. They are however currently second in the U18 Premier League South, so the future still remains very bright.

Reading U18: Driscoll, Howe, Medford-Smith, Philby, Odimayo (Balogun 76), Coleman (Shokunbi 61), Frost, Rollinson, Holsgrove, Loader, House (Nolan 64). Unused subs: Hilson, Wallace.
