One piece of exciting (!) news to come out of Reading today is that academy players Liam Kelly and Jake Sheppard have both left the club on one month loans.

Midfielder Kelly has joined Bath City, who play in the National League South. The 20 year old has never played for the Royals first team, but was part of the academy side that won the Under 21 Premier League Cup and reached the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup in 2013-14. Kelly has also represented the Republic of Ireland at Under 17 and Under 19 level, whilst his contract at the Madjeski Stadium expires this summer. So far this season, he has two goals in 12 games in the Under 21 Premier League

Sheppard meanwhile, joins Eastbourne Borough, who also play in the National League South. The 18 year old, who can play anywhere on the right hand side of the pitch, signed professional terms with the Royals last summer, and has featured just the once for the Under 21s so far this campaign. Sheppard is English-born but has featured for Scotland's youth teams.

Both players have been internet sensations of sorts in the pasts, when they scored long-range goals that became YouTube hits. Here's Kelly's effort...

And here's Sheppard's screamer...

We wish both players the best of the luck in their temporary spells, and you can keep up to date with their progress with our Loan Watch feature.
