Ref-Watch: Blackburn (A)

Game 46 of 46. For the final time this season, Olly profiles the referee for the weekend's game - ANDY MADLEY.

The last time Andy Madley was the man in the middle for a Reading fixture, a 1-0 defeat to QPR saw the end of Steve Clarke's time in Berkshire. Brian McDermott will be hoping he doesn't come to a similar fate after Madley blows the final whistle on the Royals' final game of the season at Blackburn.

That match back in December was the sixth previous Reading game that the West Yorkshire official has taken charge of, and the third Biscuitmen defeat in that time (W2 D1). Madley was also the ref when we beat Brentford 3-1 in August (cue optimistic hype) and gave us a penalty which Nick Blackman scored (cue humble pie).

In total in 2015-16, he has been the whistle-blower on 39 occasions, handing out 118 yellow cards and just three red cards, and not since September has he shown the latter. Madley, brother of Premier League official Bobby, has also awarded eight penalties this season.

The assistant referees at Ewood Park will be Richard Bartlett and Michael Hanley (hang on - doesn't Grant Hanley play for Blackburn...), whilst on fourth official duty is Steven Copeland.

So that's it for Ref-Watch 2015-16. It's been my pleasure. See you again in August. Maybe.
