After watching pretty much every other team showcase their new kits for the season ahead, some Reading fans were becoming frustrated that we were leaving our big reveal so late. But last week, we found out the new designs would be showed off at the club's open day this morning, and anticipation levels were higher than when Royston Drenthe signed three years ago.
Would the kits be a let down like the Dutchman? Or would our inner fashion gurus approve of the new strip? After watching a can of Carabao float above Berkshire for an hour or so, we wanted pretty much anything (except African violet) to pop up on the screen as fans watched at the Madejski Stadium, on YouTube and on Facebook. Saying that, this guy must get some sort of reward:

At 10:00 on the dot, the can of floating Carabao changed to floating shirts. The home design being blue and white hoops (OH MY GOSH, NO WAY!) but is slightly faded on the back, whilst the away design is luminous yellow with diagonal black lines getting darker the further down the shirt. I believe it's called a gradient.
In the stadium, Paul McShane and Jordan Obita walked out in the home strip and Jake Cooper was found cursing his luck having to wear the away strip. We also saw Ali Al-Habsi modelling the new pink goalkeeper shirt.
Anyway, here they are, thanks to GetReading reporter and Tilehurst End Podcast Extra co-host Charles Watts:
