Reading Football Club have completed their seventh signing of the summer, sealing the signature of 20-year-old Yakou Meite.
The France-born forward, who can play in all three attacking positions of Stam's favoured 4-3-3, signed a three year deal.
Speaking to the official website, Stam said:
"He's a young player of course, a winger who can play on the left or right side or maybe even in a central role as a striker.
"He has a great left foot, good technique, good physique, pace - all together he is a promising young player. He comes from a big team in Europe in Paris Saint-Germain and we are hopeful he can be a good player for us going forward."
Chief Executive Nigel Howe added:
“I am excited to welcome Yakou to Madejski Stadium, a young, talented player who has already achieved a great deal in the game despite his tender age. I am pleased we won a competitive race to secure his signature and I look forward to seeing him represent the Royals.”
What do we know about Meite?
Nothing.
Well, not nothing. Thanks to the internet, I know that he primarily plays on the left wing. I know that he was interesting the likes of Genoa, Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace. I know that he featured for France champions PSG once in Ligue 1 last season. I know that he could one day play for Ivory Coast (or France). I know he's 62 rated on FIFA with 73 potential.
And, as is typical in these types of articles, here's a YouTube video of him scoring for PSG in an U19 game a few months back (go 55 seconds in).
He won't be able to feature for The Royals in their final pre-season friendly with Bournemouth tonight, but he will take squad number 19 for the 2016/17 season.
