Earlier this week Reading lost out on the battle to sign French striker Anthony Koura who elected to join AS Nancy-Lorraine. Fear not though, because France Football are reporting that we have found another striker from Ligue 2.
25 year old Joseph Mendes, who plays for Le Havre, is apparently on his way to Berkshire.
Le club doyen finished fourth last season narrowly missing out on promotion to the top flight by scoring two goals fewer than Metz. Mendes scored nine goals and one assist in 37 appearances in his most successful season in his career.
If Mendes does move to England then this will be the second time he has played abroad. His previous experience was in Bulgaria with Lokomotiv Plovdiv when he managed just seven appearances without scoring.
Until last season his scoring record was hardly prolific: 11 goals in 100 league appearances, and he never managed more than three goals in a whole season.
However, last season he improved massively and now it seems he may be rewarded with a move to Reading.
