After two home games in the EFL Cup, Reading will need to win on the road if they are to progress in the competition, as tonight's draw gave them a trip to Brighton & Hove Albion in Round Three.

Of course it was only last weekend that we last played the Seagulls - John Swift and Paul McShane scoring in a 2-2 draw at the Madejski Stadium. The last time we played Brighton in the cup, we succumbed to a 1-0 defeat in the third round of the 2013-14 FA Cup. The Royals have not played the South Coast side in the League Cup since the 1974-75 campaign, when, after three replays, we progressed.

Like Reading, Brighton have faced League Two and League One opposition in this season's competition so far, defeating Colchester and Oxford 4-2 and 4-0 respectively. The Royals' games have been much closer, beating Plymouth 2-0 before needing a penalty shoot-out to claim victory over MK Dons on Tuesday.

The tie at the AMEX Stadium will be played on Tuesday 20th September at 7:45pm. Ticket details will be released in due course by the club, but hopefully prices aren't sky high again!

Is this a winnable tie Reading fans? Will you be making the trip down to the seaside? Let us know in the comments below.
