This shouldn't come as a shock.

Reading Football Club have confirmed that Peru international winger Paolo Hurtado has been returned to Portuguese Division One side Vitória de Guimarães on loan.

The winger, who arrived at Reading last summer to a fair amount of excitement, has disappointed since his arrival.

The 26-year-old made just one start for The Royals last season and was subsequently sent out on loan to Vitória for the second half of the season, where he made seven appearances, all of which starts, and scored one goal.

With the arrivals of Beerens, Swift, Mendes and Meite this summer, as well as the emergence of Tanner, Stacey and Fosu, it doesn't look like this transfer is ever going to work out for either party.

Oh, here's a little YouTube clip of what we thought we were getting.

Paolo Hurtadios, amigo. (Cheers to Olly on the editorial team for that one.)
