The Royals have added another attacking player to their ranks with the signing of Callum Harriot.
The 22-year-old inside forward becomes the club's eighth signing of the summer and signs a three-year deal.
Speaking to the official site, boss Jaap Stam said:
“I think Callum is a player the fans will love if they like attractive, attacking football. He is the type of winger who is difficult for opponents to predict – he has a lot of pace, he’s good on the ball, very strong in 1v1 situations and he has goalscoring capabilities as well. I’m sure he will be a great asset to the team.”
Chief Executive Nigel Howe added:
“I am really pleased to welcome another young, talented, attack-minded player to Madejski Stadium.
“Callum was a name on a lot of other clubs’ wish lists and we are delighted he has decided to join us here at Reading.”
The youngster will take squad number 15.
Another player with potential
Reading seem to be stockpiling attacking talent this summer, with the back line still looking weak. But in Harriot, the club have signed a player who has featured in the Championship 83 times despite being so young.
Harriot spent the first half of last season on loan at Colchester, where he scored 5 and assisted 8 in 20 appearances. He then returned to Charlton, where he scored three and assisted one in a further 20 appearances.
Despite those stats, WhoScored give him an average rating of 6.39 over the past three seasons. And, if you care, he's 67 rated with 74 potential on FIFA. So who knows what we're getting, except some more potential?
Interestingly, as noted by Jacob South Klein, this looks like the alternative option to Jacob Murphy, whom the club bid for earlier this summer.
Looks like Harriott is who we went after instead of Murphy, then.

Now can the club look at making some signings for the defence?
