Tom Bradshaw vs Liam Moore
The Welshman who was linked with Reading over the summer, has started life well at his new club following his move from Walsall in the summer.
Bradshaw has scored three goals in six appearances for The Tykes this season, which has help his side sit third in the Championship table and earn many plaudits.
Looking to stop Bradshaw from continuing his impressive start to life in the Championship will be Liam Moore. The Royals are yet to concede a goal from open play when Moore has featured in the league this season, meaning the centre-back will be very much a key man on Saturday.
The battle will be very hard fought one throughout the 90 minutes, with Bradshaw being 6 foot tall and Moore being 6 ft 1 in tall.
If Moore can contain Bradshaw and stop him from getting shots away, then this will be a big plus for Reading as they will be nullifying one of Barnsley's main threats.
However Moore and the rest of the back four will have to be on their toes in order to keep Bradshaw's strike partner Adam Armstrong quiet. The forward on loan from Newcastle has looked impressive since joining and is bound to cause problems if not picked up.
Adam Hammill vs Tyler Blackett
The 28 year old is a real favourites with the Barnsley fans and the Reading defence will need to be on guard if they are stop this man from impacting the game.
Last season whilst with Barnsley in League 1, Hammill got six goals in 25 appearances for The Tykes including a spectacular goal in the League 1 play off final win against Millwall at Wembley.
This season he has already got two goals, with one coming in their highly impressive 4-0 win over Wolves at Molineux in midweek.
Looking to keep the winger quiet will be Tyler Blackett, who has had a decent first two games since joining from Manchester United and will likely get the nod over Jordan Obita as Jaap Stam looks to get another solid away performance from his side.
Blackett will have to use all his skill and experience to stop Hammill from getting on the ball and getting crosses in for Armstrong and Bradshaw to feed from. If he can do this, then it will be a massive gain for the Royals.
Angus MacDonald vs Yann Kermorgant
The centre back who was signed from National League side Torquay in the summer has been a key player for the Tykes.
Since MacDonald has came in to the side, Barnsley have only conceded one goal in three games with wins coming against Rotherham, Preston and Wolves.
The game against Reading will also be a personal one for MacDonald, as he comes up against the club that released him in 2013 without giving him a chance in the first team. He will be therefore be doing everything to prove his former employers wrong, including keeping Yann Kermorgant quiet.
The Frenchman has only scored one goal so far this season and did not look confident at all during the goalless draw against Birmingham during midweek. However he did score in Reading's last away fixture at Cardiff, so who knows?
Once again Kermorgant will be playing up front on his own, so the focus will be on a fascinating one-on-one duel with both players being over six foot tall and ready for a tough battle for 90 minutes. It will therefore be interesting, as to who wins the headers from the long balls and crosses.
