This is the Garath McCleary we're used to seeing. Whilst the Jamaican winger hasn't quite shown his best over the last couple of seasons, he's started this one in flying form, his pace and trickery causing no end of problems for opposition left-backs.
But he's also delivered end product, with his accuracy of crossing creating far more chances for the Royals. Whether it's the benefits of a full pre-season, or the influence of Jaap Stam, McCleary looks set for a monster campaign if he can keep this form going.

What an introduction. From pre-season and right through the first month of the campaign, Swift has looked awesome. His involvement in nearly all of Reading's goals has been telling, with his delivery from set pieces as well as his passing and shooting showing just how influential he can be in Stam's new-look Reading.
Picked up three MOTM awards in five appearances, and if he keeps putting in performances like this throughout the rest of the campaign then we could have a very special player on our hands.
Joey van den Berg
Average rating: 5.8 (6 appearances); MOTM wins: 1st (Cardiff A)
The lovable rogue! Whilst a red card against Brighton could have cost us a point, van den Berg has otherwise grown nicely into an enforcing role in this Reading side, with his performance at Cardiff showing Royals fans what he can bring when he's sat just in front of the back four.
And in the five games previous, he coped well at centre-back, a number of key challenges bringing applause from the Reading faithful. He's a player that is certainly going to have you on the edge of your seat watching him, but the Dutchman looks a shrewd signing at this early stage of the season.
