Reading were able to pick up all three points on the road for the second time in a row and for the first 30 minutes we were in paradise.
Throughout the game Reading were able to show the improvement that they have made over the last year. If this game had been played last season then undoubtedly we would have either lost or drawn, but what Jaap Stam has brought into the squad proves that we have made progressed leaps and bounds.
The players that Stam has brought into the side have clearly helped developed the team and helped us create a bond. This is shown with the quality that John Swift has and the passion that Danny Williams has and the defensive ability that Liam Moore and Paul McShane possess.
During this game, though, Reading were back to their best and we were able to show that by the fantastic work from Ali Al-Habsi in goal. The Omani was able to keep the Barnsley strikers away and despite conceding one goal, he had a stand out game. Tyler Blackett and Liam Moore, were also players who had exceptional games in the defence; they were superb and did their job at the back. Garath McCleary also played fantastic up until that incident where he was sent off. Pushing the Barnsley was not his greatest moment but he still showed passion to stand up for his teammates.
There was no player who I personally thought had a bad game and I was happy with the way every one played. We move onto Tuesday now and let’s hope for another win.
