There was plenty of injury news to digest at Jaap Stam’s press conference today, as the Reading boss let the local media know who would be available for Saturday’s trip to Sheffield United.
The trio of Paul McShane, John Swift and Yann Kermorgant have all been sidelined with injury in recent weeks, but are all in contention to travel to Yorkshire according to Stam.

Of course the most significant returnee would be last season’s top scorer Kermorgant, who has not featured for the first team since the play-off final at the end of May. The 35-year-old underwent hip and groin surgery in the summer, and will need to be eased back into fold as he embarks on what is likely to be his final campaign in the professional game.
There’s not such positive news on George Evans, who missed last weekend’s win at Leeds and Stam has confirmed that we won’t be seeing him back for a while.

Other titbits from the boss’ press conference include praise for third place Sheffield United, verification that Manchester United’s James Wilson was a summer transfer target and a comment on Leicester City - because of course Stam has already been linked with the vacant managerial position at the King Power Stadium along with 50 other names.
