Yann Kermorgant Makes Reading FC Return, Sam Smith Starts

The day has come, everyone rejoice.

Our Lord and Saviour Yann Kermorgant is FINALLY back from injury, and is named on the bench for this afternoon’s match against Middlesbrough.

Meanwhile, Sam Smith starts a league game for the first time, clearly winning Jaap Stam’s favour after not featuring at all during last week’s loss at Bramall Lane.

Mannone; Gunter, McShane, Moore, Ilori; van den Berg, Kelly, Swift, Aluko, Smith, Beerens.

On the bench, it’s:

Jaakkola, Blackett, Edwards, Clement, Barrow, Popa and Kermorgant.

To us, that looks like a 4-3-3, with Chris Gunter and Tiago Ilori lining up as full backs. Liam Kelly is likely to form a midfield trio with Joey van den Berg deep and John Swift further forward, whilst Sone Aluko and Roy Beerens should play either side of Smith.

That said, Stam’s formations rarely make sense, so anything could happen.
