LEAGUE ONE ROUND-UP

Shrewsbury Town 2-0 Scunthorpe United

Salop made it 11 unbeaten as the put two past Scunthorpe United on Saturday. The Shrews are still untameable as they breached one of the meanest defences in League One. Stephan Payne scored mid way through the first half, turning home a loose ball after Bolton’s initial effort was blocked on the line.

Scunthorpe came close to an equaliser first when Josh Morris saw his free kick well saved by Henderson and then when Paddy Madden fired over. But the Shrews sealed it late on when Carlton Morris raced clear to make it 2-0 and leave Shrewsbury Town four points clear at the top of League One.

Blackburn Rovers 1-0 Gillingham

Blackburn Rovers made hard work of their home match against the struggling Gills. Ex-Reading man Dominic Samual grabbed the only goal of the game just after the half hour mark when he converted Charlie Mulgrew’s knock down. Rovers had their keeper to thank for making sure they kept the point in Lancashire when he brilliantly claw away Elliott List’s close range effort.

Bristol Rovers 2-1 Plymouth Argyle

Bristol Rovers edged out Argyle in a close encounter at the Memorial Ground. The Pilgrims are on a poor run having won just once all season and they were behind when Ellis Harrison set up Gaffney after 22 minutes. Plymouth Argyle equalised seven minutes after the re-start when Nathan Blisset finished smartly from a tight angle but parity didn’t last long and 10 minutes later Billy Bodin smashed home a Gaffney cross for his eighth of the season. It got worse for Argyle when two minutes later they were reduced to 10 men when Gary Miller was shown a straight red for a poor challenge. Rovers should have added to their lead but Letheren made a couple of excellent saves before Nichols hit the post.
