Vito Mannone: 5
Probably couldn’t have done much about either goal. The save right before the second goal was a fantastic one but it was a shame that our defence wasn’t so alert.
Chris Gunter: 5
Managed to get forward and get a couple of crosses in but nothing was really effective.
Liam Moore: 5
Realistically didn’t have that much defending to do in the first half. I loved his passion towards the Reading fans towards the end of the match.
Paul McShane: 5
Did well to keep Bristol quiet in the first half but could have done better defensively leading up to the first goal.
Joey Van Den Berg: 5
Well, he didn’t get booked… A quiet afternoon.
Leandro Bacuna: 6
If Reading were going to create anything, it looked likely it was going to come from Bacuna. He was the only reasonably serious attacking threat.
George Evans: 6
I for one was so pleased to see him back in the team. Considering this was his first league game in three months, I thought he passed the ball well and looked like he had a desire to win that maybe some of the others were lacking.
Dave Edwards: 5
Didn’t really do anything wrong, but didn’t really do anything to make his performance stand out either. Just got on with it.
Modou Barrow: 5
The effort he had saved right in the dying minutes of the game whilst the score was still 1-0 was easier to score than not. Had we scored I think it could have been a very interesting period of stoppage time afterwards.
Sone Aluko – 4
Had no interest in anything that didn’t involve Sone Aluko. Probably up there with one of the most selfish performances from a Reading player I’ve seen, and not in a good way.
Jon Dadi Bodvarsson: 5
You can’t knock his work rate, but he didn’t really do anything that was particularly memorable.
Subs
Garath McCleary: 5
I was worried he wasn’t going to look sharp when he came on but actually had a decent 15 minutes. Should have had an assist when he played the ball nicely for Barrow.
Yann Kermorgant: 5
He always adds something when he comes on, but he’s really not the player we relied on so heavily last year.
Roy Beerens – N/A
