Jordon Mutch has told the local press that he would like to make his move to Reading FC from Crystal Palace permanent if given the opportunity.
Speaking to the Reading Chronicle, he said:
“The manager was a big influence in me coming here. I met with Brian (Tevreden) on a few occasions and I was really excited about what they were doing here.
“I had seen Reading play before this season, I was really excited about the way they play and it was a place that I wanted to come to.
"I would definitely like to remain here beyond the end of the season, of course we will take it as it goes for now and see where we are at at the end of the season.
“Lots can change between now and then but I wouldn’t have come if I didn’t see myself staying here.”
The 25-year-old midfielder found himself outside of the first team picture at relegation-threatened Premier League side Crystal Palace this season.
Since his switch to the Madejski, he's completed two full matches, scoring one goal and picking up a yellow card.
With such a small sample size, it's difficult to say whether or not signing Mutch on a permanent deal is a good idea or not. His pedigree is good, he's played in the Premier League, and he hasn't looked out of place in Stam's midfield — but does he offer enough?
Time will tell, we'll need more games to decide if we, as fans, would like a deal to happen. But whatever your thoughts on a potential deal, the fact that a player who has recently joined the club is so effusive with his praise of Stam and the setup can only mean good things.
