Reading travel to Hillsborough on Friday night with a couple of injury worries of their own but nothing like the scale of Sheffield Wednesday's fitness woes.
With Vincent Sasso suspended following the defender's red card at Aston Villa last weekend, Carlos Carvalhal is looking to his new signings and fringe players to fill the gaps left by a large number of missing players.
Glen Loovens and Ross Wallace are considered the most likely to brush off problems and make the game but the same cannot be said for defenders Tom Lees and Sam Hutchinson, midfielders Kieran Lee and Almen Abdi, and attacking options Callum McManaman, Fernando Forestieri, and Gary Hooper.
Following the defeat at Villa Park, Carvalhal was keen to move the discussion on from injuries but it will no doubt return if Reading can get a positive result on the 17th.
“We are trying to score goals all the time but we must correct the mistakes that we are making and try to be better in the next game,” the coach stated to local reporters. “That is the most important thing."
