Big Injury Blow For Leeds Ahead Of Reading Game

Has the International break dealt Leeds a setback ahead of Saturday's game? Let's hope so.

Leeds may not be a one-man team but it's hard to imagine they'd be anywhere near the top four without Chris Wood's goals this season. The striker has banged in 27 goals in all competitions this season, including five in his past four games, but could he be out of Saturday's game at the Madejski Stadium?

Wood has had to return from New Zealand's International camp due to what their Head Coach is describing as an injury that's 'not too serious' but one he didn't want to risk ahead of a second game with Fiji in the space of a week.

So is the injury significant enough to keep the forward from lining up at the Mad Stad on Saturday? Well, Phil Hay, a journalist who covers United pretty closely provided the following update.

So Leeds still hedging their bets for this one. However, given that it's a pretty long trip back from New Zealand in the first place and in all fairness, Leeds don't NEED to win this game, I'd be surprised if they risked putting him into the starting lineup unless he was 100% fit with no question marks whatsoever.

So if Wood is out, where do the goals come from? Well no other Leeds player has scored more than Souleymane Doukara's five in the Championship this season, with the last of those goals coming back in January, although he did net against us in the 2-0 defeat at Elland Road back in December. Keemar Roofe is a player who's only notched twice since a big money move this summer, but as a former Oxford player, well, you know the rest.

Anyway, we'll keep an eye on this one and bring you any further news as we get it.
