Reading FC Won't Be Signing Ajax Youngster

The rumours surfaced, and Brian Tevreden buried them.

Chelsea v Ajax: UEFA Youth League

Reports emerged earlier this week that Reading FC had swooped to sign Ajax Jupiler striker Ezra Walian, but those reports have been buried.

The 19-year-old, who has scored three goals for the Ajax Development squad this season, was said to have agreed a move to The Royals. Goal Indonesia quoted his representative:

"Reading thinks he is good enough for the first team. Ezra has spoken with Ajax over a new contract, but a chance in England would be great."

However, Reading Technical Director Brian Tevreden has hurried to hush those rumours.

"Much like a lot of player-related speculation in the media, I can confirm that the club have not spoken to the player in question, we have no interest in offering him a contract and this is another transfer link with no foundation.”

So, that's that, then. Reading won't be signing the Indonesia international.

But you can be sure that more rumours will begin churning through the rumour mill in the coming weeks, especially as Chinese ownership news begins to circulate.

As always, we'll bring you the latest news and rumours as they come.
