One thing is certain - Reading Football Club will once again be an entry in the Championship Play-Off lottery this May. As for the exact dates and timings... well, it became a little bit clearer with the announcement of the provisional fixture list for the first and second legs of the semi-finals.
If Reading finish 3rd:
Fulham (A) - Saturday 13th May, 5.30pm
Fulham (H) - Tuesday 16th May, 7.45pm
If Reading finish 4th:
Sheffield Wednesday or Huddersfield Town (A) - Sunday 14th May, 12pm
Sheffield Wednesday or Huddersfield Town (H) - Wednesday 17th May, 7.45pm
If Reading finish 5th:
Sheffield Wednesday or Huddersfield Town (H) - Sunday 14th May, 12pm
Sheffield Wednesday or Huddersfield Town (A) - Wednesday 17th May, 7.45pm
A couple of brief notes on the above:
- Normally, the Royals play their midweek home matches at 8pm. It remains to be seen if the 7.45pm times are set in stone.
- Fulham aren't guaranteed to finish 6th... but with Leeds needing an almost impossible set of results to leapfrog them, it's pretty much certain.
The debate rages on about whether Reading should want a home leg first, and which opponent they'd fare best against in the play-offs. But at least now, we have a vague idea of when and where we can start the 'que sera, sera' chants...
