The Sunday Mirror are reporting that Reading are battling QPR and Swansea City for the signature of Barnsley's Andy Yiadom.
The 25 year old only moved to Oakwell last summer after a four year spell at Barnet where he enjoyed relegation from and promotion to League Two.
His late blooming has seen him put in some impressive displays, including at the Madejski Stadium when he was one of the best players on the pitch.
That level of performance has seen him capped by Ghana, quite the rise for a player who only moved to right back a couple of years ago.
Not surprisingly Barnsley are trying to tie him down to a longer deal, but Yiadom has turned down their offer meaning he has just a year left in Yorkshire.
As is always the case, if the Premier League is interested then we can probably discount this move from happening.
And even if it does, it surely raises questions over the long term future of Chris Gunter, who has proven that you do not need cover for him because he's never injured.
