Your votes have been counted, and we can now reveal that Yann Kermorgant is The Tilehurst End's Reading FC Player of the Season for 2016/17!

The Frenchman picked up 44% of the first place votes, finishing ahead of Liam Moore in second, with the club's official player of the season Ali Al-Habsi in third. Danny Williams, Garath McCleary and John Swift rounded off the nominee list.

The fact that our vote was held over a month later than the club's may go some way to suggesting why our winners differ, but I don't think anyone would begrudge Kermorgant the accolade. Including the play-offs, the striker ended the campaign with 19 goals - his best ever return in his entire career. Quite an achievement for a 35-year-old.

His best spell came in the last few weeks of the campaign, as he netted seven goals in as many games in April to be named the Championship player of the month. Highlights earlier in the season included getting a late winner against Cardiff back in August as well as scoring twice in the final four minutes to help complete a remarkable 3-2 comeback win over Bristol City at the start of January. Then of course in the play-off semi-final second leg against Fulham, Kermorgant would score the goal that sent Reading to Wembley, producing one of the greatest night's in Madejski Stadium history in the process.
