Nelson Oliveira will not be joining Reading this summer, The Tilehurst End has learned.
Fans quickly became excited by the prospect of the Norwich City striker moving to Berkshire for a whopping £8 million, a fee far beyond the club's current transfer record of £3.75m paid for Tiago Ilori in January.
However club sources have informed TTE that the transfer is a non-starter, in spite of HITC's and local media reports that the deal was as far along as an agreement between the clubs.
Massive statement of intent from the new owners if this one comes off #readingfchttps://t.co/kvJmyq0bRL

Over in Norwich, media outlets had dismissed the move with Oliveira a key player at Carrow Road and a fan favourite, scoring 12 goals last season.
No they haven't, I believe. Doesn't sound like it would be a goer either. So you can sleep easy tonight. #ncfc https://t.co/hCPEgCmESP

So Hoops supporters will have to look elsewhere for that big money signing of the summer, with few other strikers in particular linked with the Royals at this point and only Pelle Clement in the bag.
