Roy Beerens was injured during pre-season, while McCleary played through the pain towards the end of the 2016/17 season and needed an operation over the summer. Jordan Obita is also on the way back to full fitness.
Stam said:
"Roy Beerens is back in full training with the squad and the same with Garath McCleary.
"Jordan Obita is not training with the squad yet but the other two are so hopefully within a couple of days or a week they can join in as well.
"But they have been out for a couple of weeks and missed a big part of pre-season so first they need to build-up their fitness."
In other injury news, new signing Jon Dadi Bodvarsson has knee ligament problems, but shouldn’t be out for too long.
Stam says Bodvarsson has knee ligament damage but it is not serious. Shouldn't be out too long. #ReadingFC
