Stephen Quinn
The 31-year-old could be on his way out of the Madejski Stadium with a loan move the most likely scenario. Jaap Stam currently has plenty of options in the centre of midfield with John Swift, George Evans and Liam Kelly to name a few.
The Royals’ midfield was also further strengthened in the summer with the arrival of Leandro Bacuna and Dave Edwards from Aston Villa and Wolves respectively. Meanwhile, Quinn has made just 14 appearances in all competitions within the last year, whilst his contract expires at the end of the season.
Speaking in his post match interview to GetReading after the 2-0 win at Birmingham Stam, said:
“Quinny is a good player and I've spoken to him a couple of times and he knows the situation.
"If there is a club that comes in for him then he can go out on loan, he knows that."
Callum Harriott
Callum Harriott only completed a transfer from Charlton last year, but could still move on after Reading’s completed a deal for Fulham’s Sone Aluko last night.
The Royals are now well stocked with talented wingers such as Garath McCleary, Roy Beerens, Adrian Popa and new signings Pelle Clement and Modou Barrow. Aluko’s arrival has only increased the competition for places, and Harriott is now surely bottom of the pecking order.
With that being said it could be best for all parties if Harriott were to leave to go somewhere where he could get more game time, if only on loan.
Sandro Wieser
The most likely name to leave Reading before the close of business on Thursday is Sandro Wieser.
Wieser was signed from Swiss side FC Thun last summer but failed to make a senior appearance for the Royals in 2016/17 instead making only a handful of appearances for the Under 21’s in the EFL trophy.
Jaap Stam has also said the Liechtenstein international is free to leave should a suitable club come in for him.
JS on Wieser: "Sandro can leave...I made the decision that it is better for him to go somewhere else" #ReadingFC ⚽

Furthermore, Wieser has not been allocated a squad number this season, with the number 17 shirt that he had last year going to new signing Modou Barrow. He would now surely be ‘wies’ (excuse the pun) to seek a move elsewhere for the sake of his career.
Joseph Mendes
Another signing from last summer that could leave RG2 before Thursday's deadline is Joseph Mendes.
The Frenchman complete a transfer from French side Le Havre, but never really got the chance to shine thanks to the brilliant form of Yann Kermorgant and persistent injury problems.
However, he did get his opportunity towards the end of last season with an amazing performance against Aston Villa in which he scored two goals, as well as netting against Burton Albion in the final regular league game.
But Mendes is not currently first choice with Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Modou Barrow in front of him. Yann Kermorgant is also likely to be ahead of his compatriot when he returns from injury.
With numerous reports in the media linking Reading with a big money move for a striker, Mendes could be allowed to leave should any move materialise for the likes of Nelson Oliveria or Jordan Hugill.
Sam Smith
The academy product who made his senior league debut in the win over Birmingham on Saturday could be another player to leave the Madejski.
If Reading do sign another striker then it could pave the way for Smith to go out on loan and get some first team experience.
Smith is highly rated by Stam, so could decide keep him in and around the first team squad or drop him back down into the under 23’s to help them with their Professional Development League season.
