Reading Interested In Signing Scottish International On Loan

A bit of a random one, this.

Transfer deadline day has been a bit sparse in terms of rumours thus far, so it’s always a little uplifting when *someone* is linked to Reading, even if it isn’t that exciting.

I would probably put Ikechi Anya in that bracket, because after all when a striker is the number one priority, it’s a little strange to see a midfielder mentioned such as the Derby man.

Anya has been at Pride Park since deadline day last summer when he completed a £4 million move from Watford, but has failed to establish himself in the Rams team, making just 14 starts in the Championship last season (scoring once).

So far in 2017/18 the 29-year-old has made just one league appearance but has been selected by the Scottish national team for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Lithuania and Malta as he looks to add to his 27 caps for the Tartan Army.

A versatile player, Anya can play on the left side of midfield or defence, and it is likely that if this deal does happen then he would combine those roles and feature as a wing-back for the Royals.
