With FIFA 18 being released a week tomorrow (Friday 29th September), it’s that time of year again when the ratings for each player get released. Whilst EA Sports counted down the top 100 players last week, we have had to wait a little longer for Reading’s ratings to be announced - but they are finally here.

Upgrades

After surpassing all expectations last season, many of the Royals squad have seen their rating increased from FIFA 17. Most significantly, Liam Moore has been boosted from 70 to 74, making him the joint highest rated player in the squad.

John Swift also makes a leap of four - from 68 in FIFA 17 to 72 in the new game. Captain Paul McShane (71 to 73), Garath McCleary (72 to 73), Yann Kermorgant (69 to 72), Jordan Obita (70 to 71), Tyler Blackett (67 to 70) and George Evans (66 to 68) have also seen their respective ratings increase.

The player with the biggest ratings increase is Liam Kelly, whose breakthrough season saw him upped from 61 to 70 - meaning he also switches from a bronze to a silver card.

Downgrades

Luckily, there aren’t many of these to talk about. Reading’s only gold player last season, Tiago Ilori, has lost that illustrious status and is now a 73 rated silver card.

Chris Gunter’s critics will be pleased to see that he has dropped from 72 to 71, while Dutch pair Joey van den Berg (72 to 71) and Roy Beerens (73 to 70) have also been decreased after their first campaign in England.

New signings

The Royals’ record signing Sone Aluko joins Liam Moore on top of the club’s ranking with 74, which is an improvement on his 72 rating in FIFA 17. Next up with a rating of 72 are Modou Barrow and Leandro Bacuna, but both players have decreased - from 75 and 73 respectively.

David Edwards’ 10 goals for Wolves last season has seen him increased from 69 to 70 on his first card as a Reading player, whilst our other new signing from the West Midlands side, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, has remained as 69 rated.

Finally, Pelle Clement has become a silver card after being increased from 64 to 66. For some unknown reason, Vito Mannone’s rating is yet to be released.
