Barnsley 1-1 Reading FC: Player Ratings

How did the team perform up at Oakwell?

Vito Mannone: 6

Made some good saves to keep the scoreline at a draw. Could have easily been a lot worse had he been having a bad day.

Chris Gunter: 6

He had two shots on target!!!!! He also made a great defensive header off the line in the second half.

Paul McShane: 5

Nothing spectacular about his performance, although he did find himself pushing forwards a couple of times throughout the game.

Liam Moore: 6

I so hope we can keep hold of Moore until at least the end of the season. He manages to hold a reasonably leaky defence together and I’m sure we’d concede a lot more goals if it wasn’t for his continuously good decision making.

Tyler Blackett: 5

The fantastic cross for Yann Kermorgant’s goal deserves some credit, but he definitely should have done better at closing players down. This was punished by a late Barnsley equaliser.

Dave Edwards: 5

Another standard Dave Edwards performance. Puts in a shift and quietly gets on with the job at hand.

Joey van den Berg: 5

Nothing that stood out for me from the Dutchman but didn’t really do anything wrong either.

Modou Barrow: 5

Wasn’t one of his better performances for Reading. Everything he tried just wasn’t effective, but he was no worse than some of the other players on the pitch.

John Swift: 5

You can tell he’s still coming back from injury as he looked a little behind the game at times.

Garath McCleary: 5

I for one am really glad to see McCleary back fit and in the team. Similarly to Barrow, against Barnsley he didn’t produce the attacking threat we know that he can produce.

Yann Kermorgant: 6

So happy to see Kermorgant score his first goal of the season. Hopefully this gives him the confidence to go and get the goals we so desperately need in the second half of the season.

Sone Aluko: 5

Marginally less selfish than against Bristol. I’m still very underwhelmed by him though.

George Evans: 5

Good to see him get more game time under his belt. His distribution of the ball and general awareness of what’s going on around him is fantastic.

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson: N/A

Average: 5.3
