With the transfer window open, Jaap Stam’s press conferences will always be that little bit more interesting, and in today’s discussion with the local press, the Dutchman has confirmed Reading’s interest in a pair of rumoured transfer targets.
As per the Reading Chronicle’s Anthony Smith, Barnsley striker Tom Bradshaw and Southampton left-back Sam McQueen are both on the club’s radar.

Bradshaw, 25, was originally linked by The Mirror in a report that claimed that Ipswich and QPR were also interested in him. Capped twice by Wales, the striker has 11 goals in 30 appearances for Barnsley in all competitions this season. Could he be the answer to Reading’s striking problems?
Meanwhile, it was The Sun who first reported the Royals’ interest in a loan deal for Sam McQueen. The 22-year-old has been on the fringes of the Southampton first team this season, making six appearances in all competitions. Brentford and Leeds are also said to be keen on signing McQueen, who can also play on the left wing. With Stam rotating between Chris Gunter, Leandro Bacuna, Omar Richards and Tyler Blackett on the left side of defence this season, could McQueen be the one to nail down a starting spot in RG2?
Meanwhile, Stam also dismissed interest in Cameron Borthwick-Jackson of Manchester United and Southend’s Ben Coker, both also left-backs.
