Anssi Jaakkola: 9
Easily his best performance in a Reading shirt. Kept us in the game in the first half. And even managed to catch a cross! Where has this Jaakkola been hiding?
Andy Yiadom: 6
Back at right back, Yiadom was his usual energetic self. Though not much sign yet of an instinctive understanding with McCleary going forward.
Tiago Ilori: 6
Didn’t really see him put a foot wrong. But he did feel a mite lightweight against the brawn of Millwall.
Liam Moore: 6
Tried his damnest, and spent most of the game in the air trying to head the ball.
Tyler Blackett: 7
Solid at left back, with some good tricks going forward. Excellent to see a left footer in the role. Top cross for the first goal! And a good sprawl for the penalty!
Sam Baldock: 7
One of the few Reading players to dish out as much as he got. Did a job on the left wing, even if it’s clearly not his position. Unstoppable penalty.
John Swift: 4
Poor. Not his kind of game. Brushed too easily off the ball.
Leandro Bacuna: 5
Quiet game. Tried to hold back the rampaging Millwall front line, but just not big enough or solid enough.
Liam Kelly: 6
Started awfully. Passing back all the time as if he’d been coached by Chris Gunter. Much better playing further forward in the second half.
Garath McCleary: 7
As if he’s never been away! Not on the ball as much as we’d love to see, but did his job and put in the crosses.
Yakou Meite: 8
Heroic stuff from Meite. Clement is right about him. Bullied the defence. Got his head to everything. Scored a couple. Bit more precision in his footwork, and he’d be a hat trick hero.
Subs
Andy Rinomhota: 6
Came on for Baldock after 80 minutes. Looked beefy and full of running.
Chris Gunter: 4
Replaced McCleary. Seemed to let their winger in too easily.
Marc McNulty: N/A
Only on for a few minutes, but made a difference by cleverly blocking the goalie for Reading’s third.
Average: 6.23
