Anssi Jaakkola: 6
A decent game for the Finn. He made the saves you’d expect him to make, and certainly gave no reason to be dropped in favour of Sam Walker or Vito Mannone.
Andy Yiadom: 4
Probably his worst game in a Reading shirt. The majority of Swansea City’s attacks came down his side, and he struggled to deal with Dan James, who he pulled down foolishly to give away the penalty.
Liam Moore: 6
Swansea rarely attacked down the middle, but Moore dealt with most things that came his way from out wide. Always on hand to make a key interception.
John O’Shea: 6
Excellent in the air, as Swansea played plenty of crosses into the box. If he has the stamina to play more regularly, he definitely should.
Tyler Blackett: 5
Looked shaky on occasions but often atoned for the errors he did make. Whipped a couple of good crosses into the box too.
Leandro Bacuna: 5
Drove the team forward on occasions but also lost the ball too easily. Not cut out for the holding midfield role.
Liam Kelly: 5
Much the same as Bacuna. Showed at points that he can be a real asset in the midfield after a poor performance on Tuesday.
John Swift: 4
Just couldn’t get into the game, and I was incredibly surprised that he lasted until the 88th minute before being subbed off. Didn’t do nearly enough going forward and struggled to keep hold of the ball.
Garath McCleary: 5
Started the game in a lively manner before fading after half an hour or so. Still clearly getting back to full fitness, but glimpses of his talent were on show.
Yakou Meite: 6
You can’t fault Meite for trying. As Reading pushed for an equaliser he was the man who many of the chances fell to, and on another day they may well have ended up in the back of the net.
Sam Baldock: 4
Played on the left again, and while he has the odd burst of pace, he just isn’t that effective out wide. Put the ball in the back of the net only for it to be flagged offside, but had no other real opportunities of note.
Subs
Jon Dadi Bodvarsson: 5
Gave Reading a focal point when he came on, and his arrival coincided with a strong push for an equaliser.
