The January transfer window may not have officially opened yet, but the clear out has begun at Reading with Adrian Popa signing for Bulgarian side Ludogorets on loan until the end of the season.
His new club currently sit top of the Bulgarian top flight by six points, with a winter break now scheduled before fixtures begin again in the middle of February. Ludogorets have won the last seven titles, and have played Champions League and Europa League football in recent seasons, coming up against the likes of Arsenal, AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen.
Popa has made just one appearance for Reading this season, a five minute cameo against Bolton Wanderers back in August, instead featuring more for the Under-23s following an injury around September time. In total, he has played just 17 games for the Royals since signing from Steaua Bucharest in January 2017.
He went out on loan last January as well, joining Saudi Arabian side Al-Taawoun, coincidentally then managed by supposed new Royals boss Jose Gomes.
