Vito Mannone: 5

Not much to do except pick the ball of the net twice. However he could and should have done better at his near post for the first goal.

Chris Gunter: 6

Did well throughout the game making some good tackles and doing okay when going forward.

Tiago Ilori: 6

Did okay, made a brilliant interception to deny Adama Traore in the first half. Big couple of months ahead for the defender.

Liam Moore: 5

Not his best game and should have done better for the first goal by getting closer to Traore.

Leandro Bacuna: 4

At fault for both goals. First one he let Traore cut inside which allowed the winger to get a shot away at Mannone’s goal.

For the second goal he gave the ball away which led to Traore running at the defence before firing home past Mannone.

Joey Van Den Berg: 5

Not his best game in a Reading shirt but also not his worst. Made some decent interceptions throughout the match.

Dave Edwards: 5

Never got going from the off and gave away a silly penalty. Needs to use his experience to rally the troops if his side are to get some results.

Liam Kelly: 5

Made some decent passes with most of the time finding a Reading player. But apart from that, that’s all he offered. Creative wise he didn’t offer anything. Once he was subbed off, the Royals created more.

Sone Aluko: 6

Tried his best to get things going, but just wasn’t his day.

Garath McCleary: 5

Like Aluko, tried get things ticking for his team. But in the end it didn’t matter too much as the game was over just after half-time.

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson: 6

Isolated up front throughout which meant he didn’t get a sniff a goal. Did his best to try and hold things up and get his teammates into the game.

Chris Martin: 7

A well taken first goal in a Royals shirt which should give him confidence going forward. Fingers crossed Jaap Stam starts him more in the next few weeks.

Pelle Clement: 6

Got the assist for Martin’s goal and showed just what he can offer in this Reading team.

Yann Kermorgant: 5

Did a decent job at holding the ball up when came on. Could have got himself on the scoresheet as well.

Average: 5.4
