Modou Barrow
Average rating: 6.33 (3 appearances); Man of the Match awards: 1st (Millwall H), 2nd (Derby H)
Always one of the most dangerous players on the pitch, Barrow has continued to try and make things happen for Reading in this dire run of results. His clever touch set up Omar Richards’ goal at Nottingham Forest, before the Gambian got on the scoresheet himself by showing great composure to slot past Scott Carson when Derby visited the Madejski Stadium. It was his eighth league goal of the season - no Royal has netted more. Can Barrow now claim his third Player of the Month award of the campaign?
Liam Kelly
Average rating: 6.00 (4 appearances); Man of the Match awards: 1st (Derby H), 1st (Sheffield United H)
After being fairly anonymous against Boro and Forest, Kelly really got back to his best in the final two fixtures of February against Derby and Sheffield United, picking up our Man of the Match award in both. The 21-year-old’s looping goal from 35 yards out against the Rams, struck first time, was one of the best goals the Mad Stad has ever seen, whilst he also won a penalty against the Blades. Comfortable in possession and the best passer in the team, on his day Kelly is crucial to Jaap Stam’s possesion philosophy.
Omar Richards
Average rating: 6.33 (3 appearances); Man of the Match awards: 1st (Nottingham Forest A), 2nd (Sheffield United H)
Making the shortlist for a second month in a row, Omar Richards has adapted well to senior football and appears to have nailed down the left-back spot in Jordan Obita’s absence. Reasonably solid defensively, the academy graduate, who also celebrated his 20th birthday last month, even added goals to his repertoire in February. Richards smashed home against Nottingham Forest before turning the ball in from a tight angle against Sheffield United - both smart and composed finishes from a very exciting prospect.
