Vito Mannone: 6
Did a decent job in goal and did well when called upon. Couldn’t do anything for either goal, with Paddy McNair unleashing a wonderful effort that flew in and Cattermole’s goal which went in due to Dave Edwards losing his man.
Chris Gunter: 7
Solid performance from the Welshman. He did well from a defensive point of view and got a really good assist for Yann Kermorgant’s goal.
Liam Moore: 7
A rock solid performance from the centre back who has been one of the better players in what’s been an awful season. Made a brilliant goal-line clearance to stop Sunderland from equalising in the first half.
Tiago Ilori: 6
Not a bad performance but got caught out a few times on the ball which put his side under pressure.
Omar Richards: 6
Did a good job in challenging circumstances before being substituted.
Dave Edwards: 4
Terrible performance from Edwards. Offered nothing going forwards and didn’t give the defence enough protection.
John Swift: 5
Could have offered more from an attacking point of view. Didn’t create enough.
Liam Kelly: 5
Well-taken penalty in the first half, but weak and ineffectual for much of the game.
Mo Barrow: 5
Looked a decent threat throughout the game, but his final ball was terrible. Missed a great chance late on.
Jon Dadi Bodvarsson: 5
Decent hold-up play but he was far too isolated.
Sone Aluko: 5
Didn’t get involved enough, and should have done better with his finishing, especially at the end when he could have scored the winner.
Subs
Tyler Blackett: 5
Not strong defensively, backed off his man too much. Ok going forwards but didn’t offer a lot.
Yann Kermorgant: 6
Got his team out of jail by scoring a 79th minute equaliser with a fine headed effort, but missed another late chance that would have given Reading the win.
Average: 5.53
