Cracking effort versus Derby edges Aluko’s strike

The ball broke free a good 30 yards from goal and within seconds it was nestled in the top corner. The crowd went wild and reminded the technically gifted academy product that he was one of their own. It was Reading’s goal of the season.

Over the last fortnight, we’ve asked you to vote on which of the Royals’ seven best strikes was the cream of the crop and Liam Kelly’s long-range rocket at home to Derby edged out Sone Aluko’s screamer versus QPR, 49 percent to 37 percent.

In truth, it was a two-horse race and the two favourites were barely separated by one or two votes for much of the poll. Coming home in third with just five percent of votes was Mo Barrow’s late winner away to Leeds.
