You may remember Adi Popa dropping by Reading training at the back end of last season and the loaned-out winger has stated that he is back in business under Paul Clement.

A spell at Al Taawon gave him a bit of game time in the Middle East but any Royals fans who had felt the Romanian’s time in Berkshire was up are seemingly mistaken.

“This summer I will return to Reading and under go pre-season preparations there,” Popa told TV station Digi Sport. “I’ll do what’s needed for me to stay there. The team has a new manager, Paul Clement, and I hope to do a good job.

“I’m just thinking about Reading. Talk about my transfer to Steaua is just speculation. It’s not true.”

Indeed, he had been linked to former club Steaua Bucharest and yet it seems the change of manager at Reading has had a big effect on Popa’s intentions.

“I didn’t have a good experience with the old coach [Stam],” he continued. “But I don’t want to talk about that again. Now there’s a new coach.

“I spent two weeks back at Reading, I trained there and the new coach gave me a lot of attention and told me he was waiting for me in the team.”
