There are a few bits and bobs of Reading news today, so we’ll just jam them all together into this one piece. First up, big congratulations are in order for Axel Andresson’s younger brother Jokull who has signed a two-year professional contract at the Madejski Stadium.
The 17 year-old ‘keeper has also agreed a loan deal at Hungerford Town that is initially due to last for the first few months of the 2018/19 season. He’ll be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Lewis Ward who made a similar temporary switch to Bulpit Lane this time last season.
Absolutely delighted to have signed my pro contract with @ReadingFC. There is no other club I would like to be for the next 2 years. And I can’t wait to start my loan with @HungerfordTown... It is going to be challenging but that’s what it is all about ⚪️ ⚪️ pic.twitter.com/FsBHLoQe1b

Elsewhere, Reading have announced that the new kit will be released in about a decade on Friday. They did that with a pretty nifty video that features: a) Ben Greenwood who’s been on the TTE podcast a few times and done some cool graphics for us - cheers Ben, and b) a fun animation of Pavel Pogrebnyak’s winner against West Brom in January 2013. You can see that right here:

Although the home kit will very probably just be a run-of-the-mill blue and white kit, they might surprise us with something a bit different. For example, Blackburn Rovers mixed it up this season by switching out their normal blue for a retro ‘Cambridge blue’ (it’s pale blue basically). As another example, Reading might try a throw-back to the 1998/99 home kit seeing as we’re now celebrating 20 years at the Madejski Stadium.
Whatever the shirt looks like, it’s set to be on show to supporters for the friendly against Crystal Palace on Saturday, the last match of pre-season before the new season kicks off against Derby on Friday August 3.
