All The Transfer Business Reading Did This Summer

An overview of all the comings and goings over the last few months.

New arrival Sam Baldock
Reading FC

Reading’s permanent business finished on August 9 with the first closure of the transfer window. The club still had until the end of August for further loan signings, but will have to wait until January if they want to buy any more players.

In total, the Royals made seven permanent signings and brought in two more on loan. In contrast to a free-spending 2017, Reading prioritised free agents to bolster the squad rather than splashing the cash on new additions as many fans would have wanted. There was also a clear-out of players that were evidently not wanted by Paul Clement, although there wasn’t much in the way of transfer fees coming into Reading’s coffers.

Below, we’ve wrapped up all the ins and outs at the Madejski Stadium over the last few months, but you can also see everyone the club was linked with here.
