Following rumours this morning that Yakou Meite was set to depart Reading and join Ligue 1 side Amiens, French outlet Le 10 Sport claim that the move, which was set to be loan, is now no longer happening - with negotiations “at a standstill”.
It is not clear how far talks between Reading, Meite and Amiens got, but the French side’s signing of Serhou Guirassy on loan from FC Koln earlier in the day may have had an impact on the deal falling through.
Serie B side Pescara were the other club suggested to be interested in the forward, but the Italian transfer window shuts at 7pm UK making a move virtually impossible. Incredibly, Le 10 Sport claim that Juventus (yes, you read that correctly) were also interested in signing Meite in order to send him out on loan, but that failed to materialise as well.
So ‘La Brute’ will remain in Berkshire, at least until the summer, hopefully undeterred by today’s happenings and looking to add to his six league goals this season and fire Reading to safety.
